A Session Worth Sharing... by Taylor Meyer

I am terrible about blogging…TERRIBLE, but this session was too great to not share. It was an extended family shoot that took place on the most amazing little piece of land owned by one of the couples. I love everything about it - the property that made the most amazing backdrop, the great evening light and the faces that make up these pictures. The family was so much fun to work with and I hope they are as pleased with these images as I am. Please enjoy some of the images from their gallery. :)

Colorado Girls by Taylor Meyer

I am a true Colorado girl and I love all four seasons, but when snow starts covering the ground I’m as giddy now as I was as a kid. I do love the snow and my girls are turning out to be just like me.

I don’t get a whole lot of one-on-one time with my oldest, but since my youngest is sick, we decided to go and play in the snow while she was sleeping. We had so much fun!

Usually when we’re doing things like this I forget to grab my camera or wait too long until the moment has passed…great photographer, right? I was so proud of myself that I thought to grab it and even more pleased with the pictures, so here we are…a blog post.  Also, she clearly loves to eat snow and stick out her tongue.

Colorado Aspens by Taylor Meyer

This past fall my husband took a day off so that we could head up to the mountains to see the aspens.  I assume that even those of you that live in other states enjoy taking a drive in the fall to enjoy all of the fall foliage, but here in Colorado the golden yellow of the aspens is incomparable to any other fall season I have experienced in any other state I’ve lived in or visited. It is not only amazing, but it is a great day to spend as a family.  Hope you guys don’t mind some personal shots of my sweet family.

Keepin' it real... by Taylor Meyer

I am terrible about blogging, and really I’m not great about social media.  It’s really a problem since social media is kind of important here in 2016 and crucial to being visible as a photographer.

I’m not big on New Years resolutions, but I do think that the New Year is a great time to make an effort to improve things about yourself. I took on a 366 project starting January 1st, mostly because I’ve read it can greatly improve your photography skills, but also to increase my visibility. Keeping it real, I’ve only posted 11 out of the last 24 days, but its better than I did in 2015, so I’m still counting it as a positive.

In an effort to continue my efforts I am going back and blogging some of my shoots from 2015. I’m starting out with a session that is still one of my favorites to date even though it was early into my year of a new business.

The Hodge family is made up of three sweet boys that are all cuter than should be allowed. They were a joy to work with, because they were so happy and so playful.  The cherry on top was the absolutely dreamy lighting we had.

Happy New Year! by Taylor Meyer

This year has been monumental and I couldn't have done it without all of you who chose to take a risk on me! I can't begin to describe what I've learned through some hard experiences and so many amazing experiences during the last 7 months of being in business. Thank you to all of you who believed in me, supported me and took a chance on me. It was a great 2015 and I can't wait to see you all in 2016. Happy New Year!

Miss "E" by Taylor Meyer

This sweet girl was so much fun to work with.  She was so full of energy and had us on the move the entire time, but these pictures of her turned out great.  I’m so glad her grandmother hired me to take them, they make me happy every time I see them.

A Camping Success! by Taylor Meyer

To say my family and I needed a weekend away is a huge understatement.  It had been a year since we have had any time away from home and I don’t even want to mention the last time we had a vacation.  Well, the closest we’re going to get this year is some good ol’ tent camping in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

My husband and I both grew up camping and spending a lot of time outdoors.  Early in our marriage and even when I was very pregnant we carried on the tradition, until we had kids of our own.  We both love the outdoors and with our oldest it was pretty easy to do a lot of outdoor activities because she has always been very laid back and happy to go with the flow.  Our youngest is absolutely neither of those things, but we decided we were going to put her to the test this summer.

Our first family camping trip came this past weekend and I’m happy to report that minus nearly freezing to death the first night (which may be a slight exaggeration), we had a great time and I was able to snap a few pictures.

These are all pictures of some of my favorite things.  I love the aspen trees, columbine flowers and of course, my girls.

Baby Girl "Q" by Taylor Meyer

I had the opportunity to do a newborn session for my next door neighbor and her sweet new baby girl.  This girl is so loved by her two big brothers and I have a feeling they will protect her from anything that will come her way in this big world.  This is only my second newborn shoot, but I’m really pleased with the results.  I sure hope this lucky mama is too!

Since I was a young girl I remember being enamored by the creative arts.  I remember filling spiral notebooks with stories of all kinds, I learned to play instruments (none of them very successfully).  I would draw tons of eyes all over my school work, I listened to music and tried to sing along like I was anyone from Stevie Nicks to Mariah Carey, I actually sounded more like a drowning pigeon squawking for help, but eventually I made my way to photography.

I am a creative person overall.  I love to sew, quilts mostly. I love to make crafts, my new favorite is anything with pompoms.  I love to make random things like jewelry, memory boards, wreaths and burp cloths.  These types of things feed my soul…yes, pompoms feed my soul.

Truthfully, photography has always been inside of me.  I remember vividly discovering Ansel Adams and especially these two photographs. It has always been the art that captivated me and something I wanted to excel at, but I was scared to take the risk.  I purchased various cameras, took various photography courses, dabbled in landscape and eventually started to enjoy capturing people.

Like so many who have shared a story of how they came to a new chapter in life, I had to go through a few hard times in order to put myself out there and start this business.  I could not be more thrilled to finally be following my passion and giving this exciting field my all.  Thank you so much for joining me!
